Youth homelessness is a challenging reality in today's world, some of the reasons for youth homelessnes are the following:

-Death of parents
-Incarceration of parents
-Poverty 
-Physical abuse (Run aways)
-Sexual abuse (Run aways)
-Drug addiction (Both parents and children)
-Sexual preference intolerance
-Child run aways or family kicking children out
-Mental illness of parent and/or child
-Bullying in the family
-Age out of foster care
-Depression and suicide

Once a child is homeless and out in the streets there are many threats to their safety and well being:

-Rape & molestation
-Kidnapping
-Physical Abuse
-Offering children drugs
-Poisoned by fentanyl or other chemicals
-Sex trafficking (Taken)
-Labor exploitation (Taken)
-Starvation
-Frozen to death in winters
-Crushed in boxes
-Trauma
-Loneliness
-Sense of not belonging
-Bullying

Also, having a temporary shelter for youth when family cannot provide:

-Avoids homelessness and threats stated above
-Avoid children getting into the system before family can get them; causing months of legal battles to get children back to their extended family.
-Displaced in unsafe homes where abuse and exploitation occurs.
